Windows 10 KB5014699 and KB5014692 updates released

Microsoft has released the Windows 10 KB5014699 and KB5014692 cumulative updates for versions 21H2, version 21H1, version 20H2, and 1809 to fix security vulnerabilities and resolve bugs.

The update has been published for Windows 10 21H2, Windows 10 21H1, and Windows 10 20H2. Unfortunately, this update is unavailable for Windows 10 1909 or Windows 10 2004, which reached the end of service.

Like every Patch Tuesday, this Windows 10 cumulative update is mandatory and will automatically be installed by Windows Update during your servicing window.

However, you can manually install the updates by going to Settings, clicking on Windows Update, and selecting ‘Check for Updates.

Whats new in Windows 10 KB5014699

Today’s update changes the Windows 10 21H2 build number to19044.1741. The update comes with numerous security fixes, including fix for an issue tracked as CVE-2022-30154 for the Microsoft File Server Shadow Copy Agent Service.

In addition to security fixes, Windows 10’s June update also fixes an issue that prevents Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Outlook from opening. 

The highlighted list of non-security fixes from the last optional update includes:

  • Addresses an issue that affects the IE mode window frame.
  • Addresses an issue that prevents internet shortcuts from updating.
  • Addresses an issue that causes an Input Method Editor (IME) to discard a character if you enter the character while the IME is converting previous text.
  • Addresses an issue that causes file copying to be slower.
  • Addresses a known issue that affects certain GPUs and might cause apps to close unexpectedly or cause intermittent issues that affect some apps that use Direct3D 9.

As per reports, a bug where Windows 10 apps crashed due to compatibility issues has now been fully resolved. Likewise, similar fixes have been published for Windows 11.
