Windows 10’s New Resource Monitor For Gamers Is Now Available

Microsoft is rolling out a new tool called ‘Resources monitor’ that will allow you to free up resources in Windows 10 using Xbox’s Game Bar.

This new resources monitor works just like the traditional Task Manager, but it sits on top of running games and allows you to kill background processes without having to leave your game.

Earlier this month, Microsoft started testing this feature with selected users and Insiders. This week, Microsoft officially launched a new update for the Xbox Game Bar that adds support for the Resources widget.

The update is rolling out via the Microsoft Store and you can follow these steps to get it now:

  1. Open Microsoft Store.
  2. Search for ‘Xbox Game Bar’.
  3. In the Game Bar product listing, click on three dots menu and select ‘Update’.

Or you can also head to the downloads and updates page in the Store and click on the ‘Get updates’ button to check for available updates.

When updated, the Xbox Game Bar will allow you to access the resources monitor from the Game Bar’s menu bar. As you can see in the above screenshot, Windows 10’s new Resources widget helps you identify, kill, and manage apps that are using system resources like RAM, CPU, Disk, and GPU.

The resources monitor will display each process with their CPU, GPU, RAM, and Disk utilization. You can click on the ‘X’ button to terminate a process without having to leave your game.
