12-Year-Old Windows Defender Bug Gives Hackers Admin Rights Microsoft has fixed a privilege escalation vulnerability in Microsoft Defender Antivirus (formerly Windows Defender) that could allow attackers to gain admin rights on unpatched Windows systems.
